Many patients approach our thigh lift surgeon with concerns about the appearance of their thighs. In cases where the patient has thin or non-elastic skin, the inner thighs may develop unsightly folds and bulges.
Excess of loose skin or fatty tissue can lead to a sagging bulge that causes chafing in the inner thigh area, rashes or discomfort while walking.
Similar problems may also be seen following previous liposculpture of the thigh, when the removal of excess tissue is not compensated for by skin retraction.
The result may be skin folds or dimpling of the thighs, which may be worse than the original look.
Although it is sometimes possible to correct this with liposculpture alone, more often than not, skin has to be excised along with the fatty deposits to achieve the best result.
This is particularly true in mature patients, whose skin may not be as elastic. The combination of these two procedures produces a firm, smooth thigh profile with the operative scars hidden in the natural crease at the top of the inner thigh.
